Salama Nasib Saeed

Salama Nasib Saeed is a senior Visual Art student at Zayed University. She had taken classes in drawing, printmaking and many other visual art areas that have helped her gain skills in these different areas as well as grow her aesthetic sense, which can be depicted in her recent body of works. Her current works revolves around creating a narrative body of works presented in a metaphorical and surreal approach that grabs the viewer's attention and makes him question what he sees. Her ideas and concepts are constantly related to her childhood memories and emotions that are, however, up to the viewer to interpret them in his own ways. Moreover, Salama has participated in various shows - both locally and internationally - such as: ZU Art Event, Portrait of Generations at Tashkeel, a grouped show entitled with "Mixcolab" at Bastakiya, and Venice Biennale. Furthermore, She is an employee at Tashkeel Organization working as a gallery assistant, while helping them in preparing for their exhibitions and shows. From there her interest in curating and preparing for exhibitions has increased and recently took the Curating and Exhibition Preparation class at the university with instructor Janet Bellotto. She was part of the grouped curated show called: "Assumptions", that was part of the Curating and Exhibition class Curriculum took place on the month of December, 2009. Now Salama Nasib is establishing herself as an emerging Emirati artist and curator, and aiming for her master degree after graduation.
