After completing my MBA and 10 years in the corporate sector as a financial analyst with no formal art education, I traversed a long, circuitous route into the field of art and eventually found my medium, clay .As I work with soft clay , I respond to human gestures of sadness, mischief, joy, serenity, emptiness-a whole range of emotions.I attempt to recognize these qualitites in the shape the material takes and instinctively stop working when I find them strong and believable.Though clay is my first love, I am venturing out into other 3d mediums like paper and felt. When I am not sculpting, I am doodling with my black pen to bring out as I call them "printouts of my brain" to create a visual diary of my experiences.
I am inspired by childrens' literature.I grew up on Alice(in Wonderland) stories and like her, I tumbled into a rabbit hole, encountered characters like the disappearing Cheshire cat, the angry Queen of Hearts and the wise blue Caterpillar. I had my head chopped off and also had tea with the Mad Hatter...My works are bizzare narratives, little stories with no beginning or end but with a certain element of surprise.
